CLOSED - Clerk III ( Booking Clerk)
Responsibilities/Duties:
Under limited supervision, the incumbant transfers operative booking requests from surgeons into the electronic system. Works in collaboration with the unit manager and clinical coordinator to book patients for surgery according to priority and waiting time. Works in concert with the OR supply clerk to ensure that equipment and supply resources are available at the time they are needed. Coordinates and books pre-admission appointments so that patient most in need of the resources can be accommodated. Plans OR lists so that maximal utilization is achieved insofar as possible. Develops and maintains healthy and cooperative intradepartmental, interdepartmental, and external relationships (i.e. with surgeon's office staff) such that the interests of key stakeholders are best served - with the patient always the priority. Communicates with surgical appointments and provides information without overstepping boundaries. Acts as a liaison between the facility and surgical patients. Maintains electronic files and paper files and makes reporting information available as needed including the compilation of statistics.
Qualifications:Formal Education:
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Graduation from a recognized Administrative Technology program an assess
•Medical Terminology - required
•Computer course in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook or demonstrated ability to use computer systems
•Administrative/clerical course desirable
•Knowledge of record keeping/basic financial procedures
Experience:
•Experience with booking and scheduling patients
•Experience with multi-tasking and prioritizing workloads
•Computer work experience required – word processing, working with Microsoft systems
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
•Strong computer skills
•Knowledge of administrative support/clerical functions
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Understands importance of confidentiality
•Must be dependable, thorough, accurate and able to work with limited supervision
•Ability to promote a positive attitude and teamwork
•Exceptional proofreading skills; meticulous attention to detail.
•Professionalism in dealing with public, other divisions/departments, etc.
•Proven organizational skills
