About the pups!

Our pups are all raised in-home with our dog pack. The pups are weighed daily and ENS (early neurological stimulation) is performed at the same. These pups will be socialized with children, friends, family, and their pets. The pups will be introduced to riding in the car and they will travel with me when I go to visit friends and family. Once they are old enough I take the pups outside regularly to play and interact with the world. I try to safely introduce them to as many new environments as I can in the short 8 weeks they are in my home.

The pup’s nails are trimmed regularly and they are cuddled and played with daily to get them used to being handled! The pups begin litter training from the time they begin to walk and toilet without any assistance from mom. My previous Aussie pups had mostly mastered litter tray training by the time they went to their new homes! The pups will begin the weaning process around 3-4 weeks and will be weaned onto either a home made raw diet, or Big Country Raw pet food. Bagged kibble will be added here and there to get them used to it as well but they will mostly be fed a raw diet!

Before going home the pups will have been dewormed and received their first set of vaccinations between 6-7 weeks old.

The pups will be able to go to their new families once they reach 8 weeks of age. They will come home with you on a spay and neuter, and return to breeder contract (breeding rights are negotiable). They will be sent to their new homes with their favorite toy, a blanket that smells like their family, pee pads, a small bag of raw and kibble food, treats, their vet records, and microchip information. You will also receive your pup’s Canadian Kennel Club Pedigree along with 30 days of free pet medical insurance from Trupanion!

Breeder support, nutrition tips, training tips, anything you need, will be available from me for the lifetime of your pup! I like to maintain good communication with families at least for the first 2 years of the puppy’s life in order to make sure everyone is adjusting well as your puppy grows and goes through their various puppy stages. I looove pupdates!

This is Rip and Aries’ first litter, but the litters I have raised in the past were amazing, all of the pups had great temperaments, great looks, with the cutest little faces ever, and they were all placed into loving families, who so far, I have heard nothing but great things from them about their pups! Judging by the amazing temperaments of both parents, I believe these pups are going to be something special!

About the breed

These pups will be low-medium drive, but will still require a lot of time and effort on your end in order for them to become the most amazing companions. The ideal family will make sure they have the time and energy in their lives to dedicate to proper training and socialization of their new pup for at least the first year of its life.

The ideal family will have previous experience with highly intelligent breeds such as herding dogs, or, will have made sure to do their duty and study up on training and socialization methods. They will have a training plan in mind for their pup before it comes home. (you have 7 weeks left, be ready!)

The first year of your pup’s life is absolutely the most important, and how much you are willing to put into your pup during this time will determine the type of dog you will end up with. A properly trained and socialized Aussie should be a loving and protective companion that is obedient and willing to please. They will love their humans and will be their shadow. They will be athletic and confident, and will join their humans on all of their adventures!

If you feel like you are being put under a lot of pressure from this speech, that is good, these pups expect big things from you! Their whole life is in your hands!!

What is a guardian home?

The basic premise is that the pup gets to enjoy a kennel free life with a loving family, while still allowing the breeder to retain breeding rights and continue on with their breeding program.

Once the pup is retired from the program they will already have a loving family and will not need to be re-homed to make room for a new dog in the breeder's program, which can be traumatic for an older dog that is already used to their environment.

Guardian families are very important for Improving breeder practices, improving the quality of life for breeding stock, and preventing puppy mill environments.

I currently have several of my dogs in guardian home placements, the father of this litter being one of them!

***The ideal guardian family will be***

Very good at maintaining a high level of communication with the breeder throughout the duration of the contract.

They will be willing to kennel train their pup and make sure the pup has been properly socialized and has basic training and obedience skills.

They will not be planning to move more than a few hours away from Calgary/Nanton for the next 5-6 years.

And although not necessary, the ideal guardian family will be interested in practicing a competitive dog sport with their pup and will be interested in competing in Canadian Kennel Club recognized competitions in order to gain titles. (agility, conformation, Rally ect.) If your pup wins a CKC title at an event you will receive and an additional $500 back (on top of the $1500, $2000 total) at the end of the guardian contract. A list of sports can be found on the CKC website

If you are interested in potentially becoming a guardian family and want to learn more about my program please contact me for more information!
